Elden Ring has plenty of traditional Dark Souls style levels despite the emphasis on the open world. They are known as Legacy Dungeons, and they feature the maze-like level design that has come to define FromSoftware’s games. Raya Lucaria Academy is one such Legacy Dungeon, and players can fight Rennala at the end of the level. Additionally, Raya Lucaria Academy is infamous for the massive ball trap and for having some of the most annoying enemies in Elden Ring.

One Reddit user named iDelkong shares a hilarious clip of their experience in Raya Lucaria Academy. iDelkong claims to be a newcomer to FromSoftware games, and things take an unexpected turn in classic Dark Souls fashion. The player reaches the area with the ball trap, so they are pretty close to the level’s main boss. They cleverly avoid the first massive ball but seem to be taken aback by the second one.
The player jumps over the railing in a panic and avoids falling to their death, but a Pendulum Statue immediately grabs them. iDelkong even manages to survive this attack with just a sliver of health left, and for a second, it looks like they’ll be able to escape. However, this move hilariously throws them off the platform resulting in their death. Elden Ring players have shared several videos of their deaths, but it did seem like iDelkong was going to beat the odds and survive.
Many users call this video a perfect representation of the Dark Souls experience. One gamer shares some essential advice and mentions that players can escape grab moves by mashing the bumpers. Other users are shocked to hear that this is possible, with one claiming to have played Elden Ring for over 200 hours without realizing it.
Some users are also commenting on the player’s low health, and it looks like they did not put many points in their Vigor stat. The comments section is otherwise filled with players giving helpful advice. After all, iDelkong made significant progress in Elden Ring by reaching this area despite being a newcomer to the Dark Souls series.
Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
